Launch Date for Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV: 6th September

Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV

The Mahindra XUV400 is an upcoming electric SUV that is being developed by Mahindra & Mahindra. The XUV400 is based on the Mahindra XUV300 and is expected to be launched in India in 2023.

The launch date is also slated for September 6th. It won't need to reach the elusive 4-meter length holy grail because it is an EV, therefore it will be a little bit longer than the XUV300. As a result, it will continue to be about 4.2 metres long, much like the original Ssangyong Tivoli. Ssangyong Tivoli was hacked up to become XUV300. As a result, the XUV300's proportions were compromised, especially the absurdly little boot area. But because the XUV400 is longer, that will be resolved.

Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV

The XUV400 is powered by a 39.4kWh battery pack that powers a single electric motor. The electric motor produces 147.51 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. The XUV400 is expected to have a range of up to 350 km on a single charge.

The XUV400 will be equipped with a number of features, including:

  • A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • A 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster
  • A panoramic sunroof
  • A 360-degree parking camera
  • A wireless charger
  • A Harman Kardon sound system

The XUV400 will be available in two variants: MX and AX. The MX variant will be the base variant and will be equipped with the features mentioned above. The AX variant will be the top-of-the-line variant and will be equipped with additional features, such as:

  • A leather upholstery
  • A BOSE sound system
  • A head-up display

We just came across a fully camouflaged test mule on Indian highways. However, we were able to identify it right away as the XUV300 Electric concept that Mahindra had displayed at the 2020 Auto Show. It also featured boomerang-shaped LED DRLs in addition to comparable headlight styling. The futuristic LED lighting of the concept car will be replaced by practical bulbs in the production-spec XUV400 Electric.

Specs and Cost

Mahindra had previously indicated that LG Chem would supply high-energy-dense NMC cells for the XUV400 Electric. The cylindrical LFP cells featured on Nexon EV Prime and EV Max are inferior to NMC cells. However, they received LFP cells from Volkswagen as soon as it was confirmed that the forthcoming BE and XUV electric SUVs will be built on the INGLO platform.

The XUV400 Electric could be more potent and have a greater range than Tata's EVs if Mahindra continues with NMC cells. In practise, we can anticipate a single charge to provide roughly 150 bhp of power and more than 400 km of range, which is comparable to Nexon EV Max, its major opponent. Mahindra's products are anticipated to outperform Tata's in terms of features.

We say this because Mahindra demonstrated a very futuristic approach to its future electric SUVs at the event held yesterday in Oxfordshire. Instead of the two horizontal screens found on the XUV700, the XUV.e8 now has three. By that reasoning, the interiors of the XUV400 Electric or XUV.e4 will be significantly more modern and tech-forward than those of the ICE-powered XUV300, which it is most likely to be built on.

Nexon EV Prime now has a starting price of Rs. 14.99 lakh and comes with a 30.2 kWh battery that has a stated range of 312 km. Tata is the top seller of 4W EVs with the Nexon EV Max, which has a starting price of Rs. 18.34 lakh (both prices ex-sh) and 40.5 kWh with a stated range of 437 km.

Price estimates for the Mahindra XUV400 range from Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh. It will compete with the Tata Nexon EV Max, Hyundai Kona Electric, and MG ZS EV.

The XUV400 is a promising electric SUV that is expected to be a success in India. The SUV has a good range, is well-equipped, and is priced competitively. The XUV400 is likely to be popular with customers who are looking for an electric SUV that is spacious, comfortable, and feature-rich.
